Meeting
with Toy Association
-
- A Toy designing cell
is already set up at SISI, Mumbai under
National Toy Designing Project for
providing support to toy manufacturers
for improving toy designs.
- As a part of
development of Toy Designing Cell at
SISI, Mumbai, the meetings were held on
11th and 12th November, 2002 with the
representatives of TAITMA. Shri Pankaj
Jain, IAS, Director (SSI Bd. & Pol.),
Shri S.K. Kinra, Director and Consultant,
Toy Project, Er. P.K. Mukherjee,
Director, SISI, Mumbai, Shri S.Vijay
Kumar, Dy. Director (Chem), SISI, Mumbai
and other officials were present on 11th
November 2002 and discussed various
issues related to improvement in
manufacturing capacity, cost
effectiveness, quality and future
programmes for toy industry in the
meeting. On 12th November, 2002 a special
meeting was arranged with the officials
of Indian Institute of Packaging,
Representatives of Toy Association and
SISI officials. Packaging related issues
were discussed in the meeting. It was
also decided to organise an exhibition
exclusively for toy manufacturers for
which the date would be announced at
later stage.

National
Workshop on Counselling, Retraining &
Redeployment of Rationalised Employees of Central
Public Sector Undertakings :
- A National Workshop
on Counselling, Retraining and
Redeployment of Rationalised Employees of
Central Public Sector Undertakings
organised by Department of Public
Enterprises, Ministry of Heavy Industries
& Public Enterprises was held at
Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on 26th November
2002. While inaugurating the Workshop,
Hon'ble Union Minister for Heavy
Industries and Public Enterprises, Shri
Balasaheb Vikhe Patil said that the CRR
trainings should be knowledge-based. He
advised the representatives of nodal
agencies to design flexible trainings
which would be productive, so that, self
sustaining characters could be developed
through such training programmes. He
further suggested that Senior Executives
should also feel free for joining CRR
training programmes. Earlier respected
Secretary, Heavy Industries & Public
Enterprises, Shri Naresh Narad, IAS, Shri
A.K. Rath, IAS, Joint Secretary,
Department of Public Enterprises and Shri
K.G. Ramachandran, CMD, BHEL, addressed
the gathering.

- SISI, Mumbai is the
nodal agency in Maharashtra identified by
the Department of Public Enterprises for
implementing CRR programme. Some other
SISIs like, SISI, Chennai, Bangalore,
Calcutta, Delhi and Indore are also
acting as nodal agencies in the
respective States. Shri Amir Subhani,
IAS, Jt. Development Commissioner, O/O.
DC (SSI) was present for the workshop,
along with the representatives of nodal
agencies of SISIs for the Workshop.
In this
context,SISI,Mumbai appeals CEOs of CPSUs
to contact Direrctor,SISI,MUMBAI for
organising the CRR programmes.

3rd Census
of SSI units.
- The 3rd Census of
SSI units started from October, 2002. The
main objectives of the Census are to
update the information of registered
SSIs, to identify sick and incipently
sick units and to cover the unregistered
SSI sector through a sample survey.

- SISI, Mumbai is
keeping close liaison with State
Directorate of Industries, Govt. of
Maharashtra. The information of Census
has already reached to all District
Industries Centres. The enumerators are
collecting the relevant information/data
from SSI units. Er. P.K. Mukherjee,
Director, SISI, Mumbai has appealed all
SSI entrepreneurs to kindly co-operate
enumerators by providing them the
required information and co-operation.
