extremely pleased to bring out the sixth edition
of e-bulletin which is carrying the blessings of
Hon'ble Union Minister for SSI & DONER,
Respected Dr.
C.P.Thakur. The sixth issue is focussing
the release of the Annual Report of the Institute,
auspicious visit of Hon'ble Union Minister for
Inauguration of Seminar on Development of Small
Scale Industries, summary proceedings of IPR Seminar
arranged
specially for Toy Industries and other
important activities.

Seminar on Development of Small Scale Industries
Hon'ble
Union Minister for SSI & DONER Respected Dr. C.P.Thakur
inaugurated the Seminar on Development of Small Scale
Industries at Hotel Leela in Mumbai on 08th June, 2003.
In his Inaugural Address Hon'ble Union Minister informed
about the various measures being taken by the Ministry for the
benefit of Small Scale Entrepreneurs. He also
expressed his concern to some of the rules and regulations
which create troubles to small scale entrepreneurs,
with specially about the Inspector Raj.
The
Seminar was organised jointly by All India Association
of Industries (AIAI), Bombay Small Scale Industries
Association (BSSIA), Chamber of Small Industries
Association (COSIA) and Jagatik Marathi Chamber of
Commerce & Industries (JMCCI) and Small Industries
Service Institute, Mumbai.
Earlier,
Shri Vijay Kalantri, President, AIAI, Shri R.P.Abrol,
President, BSSIA, Shri M.R.Khambete of COSIA and
Shri Chandrakant Salunkhe of JMCCI addressed the Seminar
and mentioned various problems and challenges faced by
the SSIs in the present era. Dr. C.S.Prasad, Addl.
Development Commissioner (SSI), New Delhi, Senior Officials of
RBI, SIDBI, CGTSI, Representatives of Nationalised Banks
and Senior Officials of State & Central Government were
present in the Seminar. Presentations about
various schemes were given by RBI, SIDBI & CGTSI. The Seminar was attended by
more than 200 representatives of
Small Scale Industries and concerned Associations
& Departments. |

About the Annual Report of
SISI Mumbai
SISI
Mumbai, has released its Annual Report for the
year 2002-03 in May 2003. The Achievements in
respect of International Activities, National Level
Activities, State Level Activities, New Activities,
Routine Programmes, Physical and Financial Achievements
have been highlighted in the Annual Report. The Annual
Report has received appreciation from the Hon'ble
Union Minister & DONER Dr. C.P.Thakur.
Many Senior Officials of SIDO have also appreciated the
Report. We are receiving similar response from
different Quarters of Industry.

Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights for Toy
Industries
SISI
Mumbai, in association with All India Association of
Industries (AIAI) had organised a Workshop on
Intellectual Property Rights for SSI Toy Industries
on 20th May, 2003.
Shri
Pankaj Jain, IAS, Director (SSI Board & Policy),
Ministry of SSI, Govt. of India, Shri T.N.Daruwala,
Advocate & Solicitor and Shri Hemanshu Kane, Advocate &
Solicitor were the prudent speakers in presenting
subject with special reference to Toy Design/ Toy Industry. The
Question-Answer Sessions were Chaired by Shri Pankaj
Jain, IAS.
The Other
Dignitaries who graced the occassion were Shri
Y.K.Yadav, Project, Director, ICAMT, Shri S.K.Kinra,
National Expert, ICAMT & Shri Niranjan Naik, Director,
RTC Mumbai. Earlier, Shri P.K.Mukherjee, Director,
SISI Mumbai, welcomed the Dignitaries & Guests and
delivered the
opening remarks for the programme.

Counselling, Retraining & Redeployment of
Rationalised Employees of CPSUs.
SISI Mumbai, had organised
Training Programmes for VRS Optees of NTC Employees
which were concluded in the Month of May & June 2003.
Total 88 ex-employees of NTC have undergone the
Trainings which are aimed at motivating them to go for
self employment. On concluding day of both the
programmes, the Managing Director of NTC(NM) Ltd. Shri
O.P.Agrawal was present as the Chief Guest. He
interacted with the Trainees and showed deep
satisfaction over the efforts taken by SISI Mumbai for organising the Training. |

specially edited for VRS Optees. Shri O.P.Agrawal, MD, NTC(NM)
Ltd. is releasing the Hindi version.

Intensive follow-up of EDP Programmes
During May & June 2003, SISI
Mumbai has taken up the Intensive follow-up drive for
Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDP) conducted
in the financial year 2002-03. All EDP Trainees
have been sent letters and Intensive follow-up is
in progress. It is appealed to the Trainees to
respond our letters. In case, anybody has not
received our letter, he/she may contact this
Office giving details of his/her present activity and
progress made in the direction of self-employment till
date.
